Hello, my iPhone 6 plus has been having an intermittent unresponsive and glitchy screen. Ive reset it many times and it still does it I don't know what to do

Hello, My iPhone 6 Plus has been intermittently unresponsing and glitchin. What I mean by that is at times the phone will work perfectly fine like its suppose to, but it will eventually glitch and become unresponsive like the touch screen won't work at all. The glitch usually comes hand in hand sometimes it doesn't, but the glitch is kind of like a while see through layer that originated from the very top of the screen; sometimes the layer will be a single line at the very top or it'll appear from the top to about 1/4 of the screen and than disappear and do it repeatedly. The only way I can seem to get the touch screen to work and the glitching to stop is by either swiping my finger rapidly on the phone and or repeatedly press the lock screen button. I have reset the phone many times including to factory settings and it has continued to do this. I even turn it off turn it on and press the lock screen bottom and home screen button to reset it that way and it goes back to the same thing. I don't know what to do. Thankyou for taking the time to read my comment and trying to help me out as best as possible, hope to hear from you soon.

I've been using using my iPhone 6 from Jun-2015. I was upgrading the OS whenever new version is available.

There was no issue so far. But I see the touch unresponsiveness suddenly 1 week back.Sometimes it works fine. but sometimes it goes unresponsive. I restored to old back-up then it started working smoothly. I was happy but in 2 days, again same issue. Today i again i have upgraded to 10.2.1. It is working fine for now. Hope the issue get resolved.

Did you try restoring the phone to Factory Settings and not setting it up with your backup?

If you haven't, then try that and use the phone for as long as you would expect for the glitch to appear and see if it works without the issue. If it does, then you will need to sync to re-add your music and other media, as that indicates corrupted data that was on the device when you made the backup.

If you have, then your best bet at this point would be to take it to your Apple Store to have it looked at. With a device that new, it is still under warranty, so now it the time to have that done.

Cheers,

Honesty, I don't think it's a hardware (phone) issue, I think it's a 9.3.1 issue.

My i6+ has been doing EXACTLY the same thing, including the line-glitch at the top of the screen, slow or no response, touch screen freezes, app launch freezes, etc.

My phone is relatively new and I've never had issues until I downloaded 9.3.1.

I've also noticed my phone will launch links I never touched on Facebook and other apps.

I'll hope APPLE gets their act together and pushes a fix, but I will NEVER again upload an update without waiting a few weeks for all the glitches to be resolved. This is rediculous.

And what troubleshooting have you tried? Did you install the update via OTA, or with iTunes? Did you restore a backup, or have you attempted to restore the device to factory to ensure there was not an issue with the download and installation of your iOS?

I have an iPhone 6s with iOS 9.3.1 and have not experienced any of the issues you describe. Those issues you describe are from a bad installation of iOS. If you did install OTA, then I suggest you connect the device to the computer and iTunes and Restore. You can restore to backup, so long as you take the time to create a backup prior to the restore. I don't believe you will see a fix pushed to address the problems you have indicated.

Thanks for the info. I never thought about it possibly

being a bad update via OTA.

That said, the number of complaints regarding issues

after uploading to 9.3.1 lead me to believe that the

latest iOS is extremely flawed, even after the recent "fix".

I'll give the backup/iTunes method a try and see what happens.

Fingers crossed.

And if you take the time to do a search of this forum, you will find any number of complaints after any iOS update. The majority of them are individual device problems that can be easily fixed. Just because a number of people experience problems does not mean that everyone does. People post complaints on the internet, you don't see them posting "what a easy update this was, I've not had any problems". This isn't how it works. It is like going to the hospital emergency room to see how many people there are feeling fine. Not going to happen. Given your comparison, you would believe that everyone in the world is ill.

I believe you will find that restoring your device will fix your issue.

I stand corrected. My glitch, similar to imcgome's issue, wasn't linked to the update at all (but occurred at the same time).

Apparently, the "line" and touch-issues is caused by a slightly bent frame, a well known occurance

on 6+ models (according to other users within related Apple forum comments.)

The best solution is normally replacement (though I'm going down to the 6s size.)

imcgome, hope this helps you with your issue.

This is an iPhone 6 hardware problem and should be the subject of a RECALL. Apple are well aware of the problem and if you book an appointment at the Genius Bar they will check the serial number of your phone and if it is amongst the problem batch, will replace it with a brand new one under 90 days warranty. I got mine replaced today and the technicians information stated 'In store full unit required due to GSX guidance of a full unit replacement instead of screen repair' My friend was with me who also had an iPhone 6 bought at roughly the same time (May/June 2015 in the UK) and they asked the technician to check their phone, although they had not had any issues with it. The technician said that it was from the same batch and that they would replace it even though no problems had been seen so far. My advice is - if you have an iPhone 6 get the serial number checked at an Apple Store regardless of whether you have had issues or not. I will be keeping a close watch on my new unit, especially as there is only a 90 day warranty (why???). Fortunately, if anything goes wrong farther down the line here in the UK we are covered by consumer law and 'fit for purpose' so replacements should still be available if necessary.

My iPhone is about 2 years old and had never had any issues till the 9.3 update was pushed and i have done all troubleshooting including resets , restoring to factory settings and then restoring it back with backup ( however the had 9.3.3) . Unfortunately the iPhone back up doesn't go beyond 2 sets by defaults so i can't go back to 9.2.1 or earlier . I hope apple fixes the bug that is causing the slowness and sluggishness in the UX causing to lose basic functionality like call receive and unlocking the devices.
